Program accreditation provides assurance to pharmacy professionals that a program has been reviewed for both quality educational content and relevance to practice. This ‘seal of approval’ provides pharmacy professionals with a dependable basis for selecting programs of high quality, which will meet their learning needs and enhance their ability to deliver pharmaceutical care and optimize patient outcomes.
UBC Continuing Pharmacy Professional Development (UBC CPPD) uses a comprehensive set of Guidelines developed by the Canadian Council for Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) for program accreditation. Accreditation will be considered for programs with content that is current, relevant, evidence-based and unbiased. Once approved, program accreditation is valid for 3 years from the date of accreditation confirmation, provided the content is still current and relevant.
To initiate an accreditation request for programs offered only in the province of British Columbia, program providers must complete and submit an Accreditation Request Form to UBC CPPD, along with any supporting documents or information pertaining to the program (including program outline, learning objectives, event brochure, all presentation handouts/slides, a program evaluation form, any materials for distribution, disclosure forms and an assessment fee). All accreditation forms and documents are available on our website at , however they can also be forwarded to you by e-mail.
Should a continuing education program be advertised in other provinces, or be intended for presentation to pharmacy professionals in more than one province, national approval by CCCEP is required. For information regarding the CCCEP approval process (eg. application form, assessment fees, etc.) please refer to the CCCEP Website at http://www.cccep.org/
