Pharmacology

This course provides a practical, applied approach to pharmacology. Through a variety of learning tools such as assignments, quizzes, case studies and group work, the student will enhance his/her ability to practice competently and contribute to a safe patient care setting. Participants will gain basic knowledge related to the pharmacological uses of drugs within a variety of commonly encountered medical conditions.

Pre-requisites & Requirements

  •  Internet Access is required.
  •  Prior to registering for one of the following modules, a pharmacy technician must pre-register with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia (CPBC).  The CPBC pre-registration form can be found on the CPBC website. Please click here to view details. 
  •  The required textbook for the module is "Pharmacology for Pharmacy Technicians" by Moscou and Snipe, 2008. The ISBN is 978-0-323-04270-3. The textbook can be ordered on-line from http://amazon.ca/, http://chapters.ca/, or directly from the publisher Elsevier.
  • Course attendance is mandatory. While illness or an emergency situation may make absence unavoidable, planned absences for vacation schedules and other priorities are not acceptable. If this may be the case, it is recommended to enroll in a future offering of this course.

The Pharmacy Technician Bridging Program is one of the requirements for current pharmacy technicians to pursue regulation.
